Continuing the action-packed adventures for which the series is known, Far Cry 5 is an action-adventure first-person shooter set in an open-world environment in which players must create their own character in a series first. The game will reportedly feature a renewed emphasis on close-quarters combat and will offer a wider selection of melee weapons.

Featuring an open-world environment and third-person perspective, Anthem will be a game to watch out for in fourth quarter 2018.

Dynasty Warriors 9

Omega Force is bringing this game out alongside publisher Koei Tecmo in the 9th installment in the beat ‘em extravaganza that is the Dynasty Warriors series. Players unfamiliar with this long-running game series need not worry - each installment is fresh and self-contained. Battle through epic battles in Chinese history as a legendary character taking on literal fields of opposing troops.

Crackdown 3

Open-world action-adventure game Crackdown 3 will feature totally destructible environments as characters power through the game as a super-powered avatar. Much of the game will retain the workings of previous entries, with sand-box elements and open-world gameplay at the forefront of the gamer’s experience.

Code Vein

Bandai Namco’s action role-playing game Code Vein has people excited because it combines two hot themes - post-apocalyptic settings and vampires - that are sure to create a unique environment. Played from a third-person perspective, Code Vein will let users enhance their characters by drinking blood as the game progresses and will also utilize an accompanying graphic style to underpin the whole macabre experience.

Tempest 4000

A sequel to the classic arcade game, Tempest 4000 will offer roughly the same experience as Tempest 3000 but with updated visuals, music, and gameplay options.

Fatal Bullet - Sword Art Online

Using Unreal Engine 4, developer Dimps is bringing the first Sword Art Online TPSRPG out for multiple platforms. The game will follow after the events of Hollow Realization and offer familiar gameplay with some tweaks and, of course, Sword Art Online’s signature style.

Vampyr

Published by Focus Home Interactive and developed by Dontnod Entertainment, Vampyr takes place in London during the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918 and puts the player in charge of a doctor who becomes a vampire and is subsequently torn by his need to eat and his Hippocratic Oath. The game will take place in a partially open-world scenario and will allow the player great leeway in how to complete the game.

Final Fantasy XV

Road trip through Somnus with the boy band from Final Fantasy XV as Square Enix’s epic masterpiece finally makes its way to Windows PCs. A JRPG par excellence, Final Fantasy XV features stunning graphics and an engaging action-based combat system that stands out in the series.

Pillars of Eternity: Deadfire

Another installment in the critically acclaimed Pillars of Eternity series. RPG and action gaming elements will still sit front and center in this experience, with an engaging storyline and deep gameplay systems underlining it all.

Metro Exodus

The Metro series of games is known for their excellent storylines and well-crafted environments. Metro Exodus opens up the series world a bit and takes the action outside in an open-world experience that should be a blast for fans of the series and a wake-up call for those that have missed out so far.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2

Warhammer: Vermintide was surprise smash when it came out. Who knew killing legions of rats could be so fun? Expect more of that in this sequel.

OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead

Fight, survive, and build a refuge in zombie-infested Washington, DC. Based on the popular tv series of the same name, OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead is an open-world survival game that, if done right, might be one of the sleeper titans of 2018.

All the while promising to combine genres in a unique experience not to be found anywhere else.  Build your army, conquer your enemies, establish an empire to stand the test of time - all from a variety of gaming styles and perspectives.
